Before you start troubleshooting
Most Tally issues can be narrowed quickly by checking three things: notification permissions, habit settings, and whether the app data on the current device still reflects the setup you expect.
Reminder troubleshooting
Tally uses local notifications. If reminders do not appear, work through this list in order.
- Open the habit and confirm reminders are turned on with the expected time.
- Open Settings > Reminder Settings inside the app to confirm the habit still shows an active reminder time.
- Open iOS Settings for Tally and make sure notifications are allowed.
- Check whether a Focus mode, scheduled summary, or other system-level notification control may be delaying alerts.
- If you changed reminder settings several times, turn the habit reminder off, save, then turn it back on and save again.
Tracking, progress, and streak behavior
Tally supports different habit modes, so the app may count progress differently depending on the setup.
- Boolean habits count as complete once the daily entry exists.
- Quantity habits add up until they reach the target count for that day.
- Times per week habits show weekly progress instead of a fixed due-day checklist.
If a streak or chart looks wrong, first review the habit frequency and then inspect the habit history screen for deleted or partial entries.
Data, deletion, and reset
Tally stores habit data locally on the device. The app includes several ways to remove data depending on how much needs to be cleared.
- Delete individual entries from a habit's history screen.
- Delete a habit from the habits list if only one routine needs to be removed.
- Use Settings > Reset App Data to clear habits, entries, reminders, custom categories, onboarding state, and appearance preferences from the current device.
If you plan to reset the app, make sure you no longer need the local history stored in it before confirming the action.
